Our 5 Favorite Places to Stream Classic Movies | Classic Movie Treasures

When I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, we only had 4 TV stations, a VHS recorder (in the 70’s) and the internet did not even exist. If you wanted to watch a classic movie you had to stay awake and watch it on the late, late movie. Today, watching classic movies is so much easier with a lot more options. Here are five of our favorites.

 iTunes

iTunes has 85,000 comedies, romances, classics, indies, and thrillers. They have movies from every major Hollywood studio and independents around the world. And you can buy or rent them in 1080p HD. Purchase on your iOS device, and your movie will be instantly accessible in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC. And vice versa. Tap to play, or download to keep a copy with you when you won’t have Wi-Fi. You can also watch on your HDTV via Apple TV.

Another feature Apple offers is Family Sharing which makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share each other’s iTunes purchases. Whenever one person buys a new movie or TV show, everybody in your family can download and enjoy it. Families can share songs and albums, too

Turner Classic Movies and WatchTCM app

Watch TCM is a “TV Everywhere” service that allows you to access movies and the TCM television network on additional devices (a PC/Mac computer and on mobile devices) beyond your TV Service Provider cable or satellite set-top box. You can access the same great programming, uncut and commercial free, available free, if you get TCM at home through your TV Service Provider.

Watch TCM whenever you wish online on your computer or on your mobile devices. These movies are available “on demand” and you can pause, fast-forward, rewind, or even add them to a Watch List to view later. Unlike the live network feeds, these movies can be watched whenever you like, but please be aware that On Demand movies are only available for 7 days after they air on TCM on TV.

The new guy in town is Film Struck.

FilmStruck is a new subscription on-demand service that offers film aficionados a comprehensive library of films including an eclectic mix of contemporary and classic art house, indie, foreign and cult films.

FilmStruck offers instant streaming access to critically acclaimed films, hard-to-find gems, and cult favorites from the world’s greatest independent film libraries. FilmStruck was created by the movie lovers at Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and The Criterion Collection, giving you access to some of the world’s greatest films, shown uncut and commercial-free, just as the director intended.

All of the movies in our database have links to iTunes, FandangoNow, and Amazon Instant Video. (if available)
