Fried mozzarella sticks is fast becoming a favorite snack and the perfect movie snack. It’s also a great party food idea  for those movie marathons because you can do the initial preparation a few days before the party, freeze it up and then simply fry prior to serving.


1 large egg

½ -1 lb mozzarella block (or use pre-packed ones which are already cut and shaped like tiny hotdogs)

½ cup flour

Salt and pepper to taste

½-1 cup panko breadcrumbs or you may also use plain breadcrumbs

Enough cooking oil to cover the bottom of your frying pan up to ½-3/4 high


Get everything you’ll need to make the fried mozzarella sticks.

Cut up the mozzarella block into finger size pieces and season the flour with salt and pepper. Seasoning the flour adds a layer of flavor and makes your mozzarella sticks extra special!

Roll the mozzarella pieces in the flour, making sure the pieces are well covered. Shake off extra flour.

Beat the egg and season it with salt and pepper. Do the same for the breadcrumbs. Now dip the floured mozzarella pieces in the egg and then coat with breadcrumbs.

Do the same for all the mozzarella pieces. At this stage, you can wrap this in plastic wrap and freeze for up to a month if you are planning on having it later.

Or, fry them up in oil until golden brown. Just make sure the oil is well heated and to only fry a few pieces at a time.

Place in paper towel to soak up the excess oil and serve with your favorite marinara sauce recipe! Enjoy!
